      After I Read, We Are Data Algorithms and The Making of Our Digital Selves by John Cheney- Lippold I was not shocked about the things that I learned while reading. I have known for quite some time that we have to be careful what we allow on our page because it will never truly go away. What I did not know while reading the preface was that non celebrities have the “right to be forgotten.” Unfortunately, celebrities do not have this choice and have no sense of privacy. I decided to go to Google.co.uk and put my name up to see what I would find but luckily for myself I only saw my previous degree that I had received as well as my high school graduation.        People can define social media and social networking in many different ways. The way that I define social media is thinking of it as just the platform or in a real-world example a venue. This is where you come to post content such as images and videos for others to see. Whereas social networking is the actual engagement on the platform or at the venue. Social networking is where the conversations and the questions spark so that you can gain a fan, follower, or customer. A way to communicate and build relationships with those on social media.  Social networking sites that I use are Instagram, YouTube , Facebook, TikTok and Snapchat. Although I rarely post content it is where I am able to ask questions to those presenting their content to me. I use Instagram as a way to find those with special skills such as hairstylist, makeup artist, and much more.          When I first started using social media, I used to share a lot of posts that may be inappropriate to some with a lot of cussing. I would share drama that was going on and I would never do that now. I am much more of a private person and rarely ever post on my social media unless it’s an accomplishment or sharing something that is inspirational, or things that I like such as a recipe for food that looks appetizing or movies that are about to come out. Personally, on social media I try to refrain from using any type of profanity. I watch what I say for professional reasons. I never want to look as if I am “bad for business”. I do share funny posts that has profanity and not always appropriate but nothing that will be too harmful to an image. I believe a person’s online image is very important.
