Personal Thoughts of social media: LJ1

When I first started using social media, I used to share a lot of posts that may be inappropriate to some with a lot of cussing. I would share drama that was going on and I would never do that now. I am much more of a private person and rarely ever post on my social media unless it’s an accomplishment or sharing something that is inspirational, or things that I like such as a recipe for food that looks appetizing or movies that are about to come out. Personally, on social media I try to refrain from using any type of profanity. I watch what I say for professional reasons. I never want to look as if I am “bad for business”. I do share funny posts that has profanity and not always appropriate but nothing that will be too harmful to an image. I believe a person’s online image is very important. It is especially important when it comes to careers rather if it is entrepreneurship or not. Having social media can be fun and games but it also gives you an image in someone else’s eyes that can be good or bad based on what content you allow on your page. For instance, I personally wouldn’t want to do business with someone who is always in some type of drama because that lets me know that their business may not be as professional as they portray it to be.

If I could go back, I would have not posted so much profanity and inappropriate things. I never realized the severity of how things that you post on the internet does not ever go away. I dislike when memories pop up that I do not consider myself to be a part of or support anymore. social media is a way to express your personality. It does not matter what a person is into they can always find a crowd on social media apps that will support them and what they stand for. Social Media is also a way for others to find out what they may have interest in and for them to allow themselves to tackle more things in life. I do not believe that anyone should have any rules about what they post because it is freedom of speech, and most individuals are just expressing themselves. Although certain situations can be inappropriate, but each social media account has ways to remove or restrict a person from going overboard. Although I believe quitting social media would be a good idea because people will not be so glued to their phones but, social media has been a way to help a lot of businesses develop successfully and it has been a way to stay up to date with family and friends that you may not always have that much time to catch up with.
