Assignment 3: Time Diary

 

    Over the past four days I analyzed my usage on four different social media apps. The apps I analyzed were Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, and TikTok. I decided to use these four because they are the ones, I use the most. I use all of my social media accounts on my phone and I never use anything else partially because I don't fully remember my passwords. Starting from Wednesday I used Facebook for 2 hours and 25 minutes, Snapchat for 20 minutes, Instagram for 14 minutes, and TikTok for 41 minutes. On Thursday I used Facebook for 1 hour, Snapchat for 20 minutes, Instagram for 13 minutes, and TikTok for 40 minutes. On Friday I used Facebook for 1 hour and 45 minutes, Snapchat for 26 minutes, Instagram for 19 minutes, and TikTok for 28 minutes. Lastly on Saturday I used Facebook for 1 hour and 48 minutes, Snapchat for 33 minutes, Instagram for 37 minutes, and TikTok for 14 minutes.

     I use Facebook throughout the day to just see what everyone is doing such as family and friends since I'm far away and do not have the time to talk to everyone. I use snapchat throughout the day as well for the same reasonings. I do talk to people more on snapchat than any other app. I use Instagram throughout the day as well but, mainly to see what new is going on in the world of Hollywood and checking a few friends' post. Lastly, I use TikTok mostly at nighttime merely for my own entertainment for recipes, things to do around me, funny videos, and workout videos. 

    I don't think my school schedule has anything to do with my use on social media. Of course, I like to use my social media apps, but I don't necessarily have to be on my phone all day which is why I am not on each app for so long. I do notice that on the weekends I used each app slightly more but, not so much of TikTok. On an average I use social media 3 hours a day which I don't believe is too bad. I do want to detach from social media just a little more and use that time to do something else. For instance, I've been trying to learn a different language and if I can use the time, I use on social media to practice more I could be fluent in no time.
