Final Project

I enjoyed creating my LinkedIn profile. I have always heard of LinkedIn, but I have never used it or thought about making a profile until this class. While creating the profile and applying all of the requirements I enjoyed learning all that the site has to offer. I did have some difficulty trying to figure out how to work certain areas, but I know the more I use it the more I will learn about it. I will use the site in the future to network. I love how LinkedIn allows you to follow companies and join groups in order to network with hundreds of different people. I know that LinkedIn will help me to get a job as a health administrator or get a job in health information technology.  This class has introduced many issues that are faced in social media. I learned so much about how privacy can be breached in social media. I also learned about the severity of watching what is posted online in another aspect than before. This class has also shown me many different platforms t...

Social Media Ecosystem: LJ9

Online Popularity is of great importance as it reflects the potential demand for products in the future (Z.Zhang 694). eWOM is also known as electronic word of mouth which is a method that is used drastically to promote services and products. eWOM is an unpaid method that promotes products and services from either the personal business or consumers making comments on the businesses. Electronic world of mouth has been able to promote a little better than traditional marketing which is paid because there are many ways to promote the way you want to. Celebrities and content creators advertise by using ewom to get the viewer's attention. Most of the time when viewers see their favorite celebrities and creators use a product whether the product provides true results or not the viewers will buy those products. Online reviews from websites such as yelp have a great impact on multiple companies. Yelp shows reviews from real people on different things such as restaurants.  Personally...

Social Media and Broadcast Media : LJ8

Social Media has become very popular over the years. Social Media has easily become associated with television and broadcast media as well. Occasionally I will get on Twitter and see one of my favorite shows on popular topics because their hashtag is circulating. Hashtags are a fun way to express your thoughts on the show that you are watching whether it is good or bad. I have seen many interviews with the actors that will answer questions from Twitter users about the thoughts they have had by using those hashtags to get the productions attention. Instagram is another platform the users will try to get the influencers and actors attention. They comment on their posts to see if they can get a reaction to them or will even slide in their DMs. Social Media has become a great way to promote shows. I regularly get on social media to find the shows and movies that others find interesting that I may also like to watch.        ...

Hands On Assignment 4: Screen Cast: How Privacy and Discrimination affect social media

Social Media and Healthcare - LJ7

Social Media has evolved tremendously and has created an impact on the world in both good and bad ways. When talking about social media and Healthcare there are plenty of challenges that occur. The breach of patient privacy is a concern, the network of unreliable health resources that reach the internet, and a violation between personal and professional boundaries. On the other hand, there are many other things that are a good influence between social media and Health care. The ability to use networking tools such as Facebook, Instagram, and twitter allows health care providers to promote health and communicate with patients providing the education they need through reliable resources. False information is easily spread but since more medical facilities and health providers are joining networking platforms the ability to minimize false information is higher.    Social Media used in the workplace including in healthcare is used by to support professional connections,...

Social Media Laws and Ethics: LJ6

Part 1:   This week's reading contained a lot of information. Although I knew some of the information that was presented in this chapter, I was not aware of everything. I knew that influencers get paid to promote and receive free merchandise however I was not aware that the influencer had to make it known that they were getting paid. In the chapter it states that the influencer is given a clear statement that they are left with responsibility of disclosing the business relationships. (Lipschultz pg.225). The chapter also states that the openness of social media publishing makes more cases and concerns (Lipschultz pg.225). Although we have the freedom of speech to say whatever it is we please on social media we have to be careful of some of the things we share. This is especially applied to when the influencers sign a contract and share information about the company that was not supposed to be disclosed which causes violation of contracts and can create many issues such ...

Flickr and Photo Sharing - LJ5

Photo sharing is a way that helps social media progress. Without the ability to photo share social media may not be as popular. Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram have all upgraded for users to upload to their “stories.” These stories allow timed photo sharing for things you do not necessarily want on your page but still want to share. Many people cannot express themselves in words but instead pictures. These photo sharing apps allow users to create a brief description of their photos and allows them to create albums to create a larger following base. Not only will the pictures you take attract others but the way you set up your photography albums will also attract others. Although I personally will not use photo sharing apps on a regular basis it is a way to have your photos online for others to view. This process may also have the ability to free up more space on your electronic devices since you can store photos elsewhere.    In the article “The man behind Flickr o...
